How do non-big box retailers obtain Apple products to sell?

Bought an iPad from a vendor on ebay for a good price (https://feedback.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.d ... back&rt=nc) and they don't have much feedback and don't seem to have a retail presence, only online.

I'm just wondering if its possible for small retailers like this one to obtain legit Apple inventory? I was always under the impression Apple only ever provided its products to big retailers like Best Buy and such.

You can find a list of Apple Authorized Resellers by putting in your postal code at this link:

If you buy Apple products from a 3rd party seller (not from Apple nor from an Apple Authorized Reseller) then I'm not sure whether Apple's standard warranty would apply.
