A cupful in every tank of petrol you fill your car with won't hurt.

Really? That seems like a big risk to take....can I call you if my car stalls?

You can always just burn it.... it is just gasoline.

If your city has a disposal program it is highly likely they end up incinerating it anyway in a controlled environment.

except incinerators tend to capture some of the heat and make sure theres complete combustion limiting pollution.

In Calgary you can just take it to the some of the firehalls for disposal.

Markham
Axster...you should post your location if you want help.

In Markham Ontario, there's hazardous waste dump on Rodick just north of 14th Avenue. You can drop it off there on Wed and Sat.

doesnt stuff like this just sit in barrels forever?
no, the shelf life of gas is 6-12 months.

When its disposed of its either incinerated or recycled back into refined products.

I thought gas goes bad? It is mixed (for trimmer) so I cannot use it for cars. I did not prep the trimmer well for winter as there is still fuel in the tank as I got lazy with school/work. I do not want to risk burning bad fuel in my Echo trimmer.

I do live in Markham, if I dispose it, will I get my container back? I doubt they will be happy if I bring it in an unsafe (e.g. washer fluid) container but I do not want to buy a new container. What a waste... Echo oil w/ Esso 91 (5L) thats still full.

How much is there? About the only risk you are taking is stalling your motor. It is only a trimmer, after all. While gas will go stale, it should still be fine to use it next summer. If not, worry about it then. If you are really worried, but some fuel stabilizer (about $6 a bottle) and treat it, as it will still be good right now.

Post it on craigslist? Or maybe somone on this board would like some free gas? Just ask that the person bring a suitable container to put the gas in.

Ad is correct - one should be using stabilizer. That being said, I have always put the rotten stuff sitting around, 2-stroke mixed or not, into my car/truck's gas tank without any repercussions. Ever. But then I also change my fuel filter annually whether it needs it or not too.
What the H E double hockey sticks have I done now?
