Thread: How do you try to stand out during an interview?

Don't try too hard and try not to sound scripted in the interview. Just be relaxed and answer everything honestly. Your resume and credentials already tell them all your qualifications. If you weren't qualified, you would not have gotten an interview. The interview is just to get a feel for your personality and to find out if you are someone they can work with.
So the most important thing is to be relaxed, and feel comfortable; because if you feel awkward, they will feel awkward.
Trying too much to stand out can work against you.

Update!
I had my interview today and I'd say it went well! The manager said I should hear from them tomorrow about scheduling a second interview.
Question: Do I still send a thank you card or wait till the 2nd interview is completed for the cards?

Yes, send them a quick notes of thank you for the interview and that you are looking forward to your next meeting with them. In addition, if you've learned something new about the company during the previous interview, you can mention it in the thank you card.

Would a quick email suffice in this case? Or do I send cards now, and again after the second interview?

Email is fine and I would do the same after the second interview.
