I have the Allegra's, two sets already, and in my view, they're the best value and performance for normal driving. For Toronto streets and highways, IMHO, they're great for summer and winter.
If you want better traction in winter, get the narrower tire..
For example:
If default is 195/60-R15, your car may support 185/65-R15, by essentially keeping the same circumference, but just being a bit narrower. You keep the same rims and you get better performance in snow and rain.

How does Goodyear Allegra perform in winter?
A question to ask those people who had Goodyear allegra before
How is the performance in winter? I need some real-life Canadian winter experince for this tire
thinking of buying a set 'cause CT has 2nd tire 1/2 price sale on right now.
i know it is better off with a set of winter tire but I am expecting only drive this car for another two years. So it seems not worthy to buy a whole new set of snow tire.
Thanks,Last edited by mikesxf; Sep 26th, 2008 at 08:53 PM.

I've had the Goodyear Allegra's for a year now and I love them. They have good overall traction and good corning. I would buy them again if I had the chance also. Be sure to check the date codes on them when you buy to avoid buying older tires etc..

Also another positive resonse here. They're quite decent in the winter, one of the better all-seasons. As long as you don't drive like a maniac (but that's a given with winter conditions).

Allegras sell fast at CT, so I doubt you'd get more than 6-7month old tire..
Even though I have Allegras, I'm considering getting some winter tires, I'm looking at Semperit Sport Grip, $510 ( minus discount, $30 at the moment, max $50) for 4 tires + steel rims, 14inch. Take a look at the group buy in the hot deals:

Getting winter tires will allow me to keep the allegras longer.. Any all season tire is not that good in winter once it's past of 30-50% of its thread. (had the exact numbers somewhere)..
