How does Rogers charge long distance on a plan?
I've been a Telus Pay-As-You-Go cellphone user for a long time, but I'm planning to switch over to an iPhone. I was hoping to get the minimal voice plan for $25 for 200 local minutes. At Telus, any long distance just came off your Pay-As-You-Go balance at a higher per minute rate. But I then started wondering how Rogers charges for long distance on a local plan. I rarely do long distance, but like to have the option as needed - I didn't want to have to get an all-long distance plan if possible.
(Rogers makes it remarkably difficult to find this info on their website, if it's even there.)

Rate
I don't really remember the actual rate. But some plans offer 100 long distance minutes in Canada.
I know when I call the States, I get charged 0.30 per minute.

Thanx for the reply - I'm going to drop by Rogers today for the specifics.
BTW, can you use those discount calling cards (Call the Phillipines for 3c/min!) on a cellphone?

Magandang-Oomaga,
cell-plan airtime rates aside, if you are in your unlimited calling period, YES, you can use the calling cards to call unlimited.
If you are on a prepaid plan with say $0.30/min, then you need to add 0.30+0.03 as you per minute cost to call Country X using the phone cards. If You are on a monthly with 400 daytime minutes, and you call with the phone card during the day then, up to the 400th minute of daytime calling, you would be paying $0+$0.03 to call with the calling card. Once you finish your daytime bucket for the month it is the overage rate (I think it is 25cents)...so 0.25+0.03 to call with the calling card.
