Why not just sell it for whatever you can get?
Say, $300-$500?

How to fail Air Care in BC?
I have a 1992 Grand Am that is in need of a water pump. I don't want the car anymore and am looking for the best value for it. The Scrap It program sounds like my best bet (12 months of 1 zone bus tix for the car) BUT my car needs to have failed Air Care. I have not failed Air Care before and was wondering if there is any way to guarantee a failed score? My other problem is that without a water pump I don't know if my car would go the distance to get to the Air Care station. I know this sounds crazy but any tips would be great

I am. However, $300-$500 cash is worth less than the 12 month 1 zone bus pass. I pay $69/month for one of those right now

get under the car and drill out the contents of the cat, that will make you fail for sure.

Pull the O2 sensors and wait for the car to set off the check engine light.
Or you can drive into the test centre without a gas cap (automatic fail in Ontario; should be the same in BC?).

easiest way is just to disconnect the o2 sensor, car will automatically start to run rich

It can't be that much to replace a water pump? just a few hundred bucks?
I can't believe an OK condition 1992 grand am would be worth less than $1500. Replace the pump and sell it in good condition.

Mar 9th, 2006 06:15 PM #11That's what I think you should do to, or just sell it as is right now. Is the extra few hundred dollars worth the trouble?

Put a couple teaspon of used motor oil in exhaust pipe. When you drive to aircare, doesn't matter how good your cat converter is. It will be burning oil.
