If you want to upgrade an original WinXP or XP SP1 system to SP2, make sure you download and use an offline upgrader like http://www.heise-security.co.uk/articles/80682
Otherwise you will be forced to download and apply dozens of additional security patches to SP2, and your system will be vulnerable online in the meantime.
