Not sure if I understand this correctly, with caller id, wireless companies always provide incoming numbers. I can always see the calling numbers on my phone and on the detail web page of my account (I am on pre-paid, so I have no paper bills). Can you log on "my account" to see the calling and called numbers? Your phone may have a history of calls that may help.

How to get court orders for detailed wireless billing
Last month rogers charged me $100 for going over my daytime minutes. I don't remember using that many extra minutes as I have network calling plan. plus, they dont disclose incoming phone numbers in their bill. so I decided to give them a call. Told them that if they can provide me with a detailed bill (including incoming phone number) I can check if I've indeed gone over my minutes. They told me that its a privacy law and they cant provide me with incoming numbers. I checked on the web and indeed its a law and wireless companies don't provide incoming numbers. They told me that the only way to get it, is by getting a court order stating the company to release the phone records.
So, I was wondering if anyone here has done it before or have any idea how to go about getting a court order or any other way of getting incoming numbers?

Okay, so I don't have caller ID feature in my plan and therefore I can't see incoming call numbers. On "my account" I can only see outgoing phone numbers and details about outgoing calls. what I want to see is incoming phone numbers that are not provided in the paper billing (only says INC in place of incoming phone number) even if you have caller ID feature in the plan (I don't have it any ways). The only way to know about incoming calls is either you have caller ID and keep your call logs for over a month OR get the court order. I don't know anything about pre-paid services and how they do billing.

I'm just going to throw this out there, but wouldn't you have to go to court to get a court order?
Just kidding. In the meantime, see if they can at least provide you with the details of the calls (date, time, length). Even without the actual numbers, it might be enough to jog your memory of the calls or make you able to say there is no way you received a 317 minute call at 2:46 AM._______________

Even if you can't see the exact number that's calling you, they still provide the date, time and length of the call in your bill. You should be able to go into your phone's call-log, and compare it to your bill and match up every single incoming and outgoing call that way.

As I said earlier I don't have call display feature, so there is no way I would know the incoming number. But from what I can recall (guessing from time and length of the calls) I am somewhat sure that I have been charged for incoming calls from rogers home phone even though I have network calling (free rogers to rogers and rogers to fido). but the thing is I have no proof of that

p.s. rogers is such a pain in the @ss to negotiate with.

What kind of phone do you have? Your phone's call-log should still have a log of all the calls you have received and made, even if it doesn't have the number of the caller, it should still track and display the date, time and length of the call. This same set of information should be available on your cellphone bill, and then you can compare your calls from your phone's log to the ones listed on your bill to make sure all the calls are matching up.

You cant get a court order, the police have to, and the files have to be evidence/integral to a criminal investigation.

So what law is it ?
I was just wondering what law it was that prohibits them from providing a owner of the data with the inbound phone numbers? Anyone actually know?
Thanks

It's called a goodwill credit. Was probably also told it is a one-time only deal, if it happens again, no credit. That sort of thing happens all the time. By helping difuse a situation with a pissed off customer they might be more willing to stay with rogers when the contract ends.
