How to get an entry-level (i.e. CSR/FSR, call centre) job in big 5 banks?
Hey,
The only way I know to apply the job is from the cooperate website.
But....
Last Friday, I saw a CSR job posting on the internet. And this Wednesday, I went to the branch to ask the reception whether this position is filled or not. She was nice and asked the branch manager. The manager said the position had been filled. To me this is magic. How they could find someone only within two days. So I guess the job posting is always out of date.
Any one could give me some advice or tips which way is the right way to find jobs.

Was it a specific branch?
More likely than not the branch manager puts in the request to HR and they post it, they then receive from HR a bunch of previous already vetted applications from prior job postings and found someone they liked that was available.
Don't be discouraged and just apply and get that initial telephone interview.
After that you are already one step ahead and will get your chance sooner or later.
There are lots of postings about getting an entry level csr or call centre position at the banks. Search for them!

What can also happen is sometimes there is lateral movement. There may be somebody that the manager has in mind; either from another branch or somebody they know from elsewhere. The manager will then let the hr consultant know that there is somebody in mind already and then they just push them to the top of the list. They will still have to do all the interviews and things like that just for audit reasons.

go into each branch and hand in your resume, and dress nicely

I can assure you that this does not work. Maybe at smaller branches, but at any branch that isn't considered "small", the managers will be far too busy to see you. Even if they do see you, it is unlikely that they will remember you unless you really wow them.

Agreed! The staff in the bank will suggest you to apply on line only to show they are fairly considering everyone. So who knows any other way besides applying on line.

Depends which of the banks. TD is only through HR - can't be done through the branch. RBC is the opposite. I think BMO is in between where they rely on both HR and branches are open to applications. Not sure about the others
