I just called on Friday and got them to give me the HDPVR rental plus the $5.99 specialty HD package for 1 year. I have home phone/internet/wireless/cable with Rogers and just said Bell was offering a free year if I moved my cable to satellite.
They did not hesitate one bit which makes me think I should have asked for the 2 years!![]()
A friend of mine called right after and the rep only offered to pay for half the rental for the year...

Didn't work, BUT
they did give me 1/2 of the price of the HDPVR rental for one year. This deal is for existing customers only. They only do the Bell deal as their "Winback" promotion.

Thanks to OP., it got me thinking about doing the same but for my Expressvu:
...Called into Expressvu to hint at my disatisfaction with some prices, and current competitor promos going on., as soon as I finished that sentence., the rep put me on hold., and offered me ($5/month for my Sympatico for the duration of my contract) & $255 in discounts (towards Expressvu free monthly bills) over the next 6 months. Needless to say, that alone bought my loyalty to Bell Sympatico & Expressvu.........
(Okay actually what happened was I called 310-bell., THE FIRST rep did the Sympatico credits., then transfered me to Expressvu who did the $255 credits)...Just in case someone got confused and thought that only one rep can handle ALL accounts....in fact truth be told., I'm pretty sure I didn't even make it to the cancellation department (I asked out right "which department did I reach" for each guy)...so more than likely had I pushed for Cancellations., I would've receive a MUCH MORE OUTRAGEOUS discount. Needless to say., I'm ecstatic. Don't use HD., have the level I PVR., so I REALLY didn't want to waste time with another PVR.
.........well until the 6 months are up anyway

Is there anyway to get a free HD PVR if you already own a HD terminal?

sorry if this has been asked but it's such a long thread
if i don't have an HD source or tv or anything, this still works as a normal PVR right?_______________

for those who were asking if Shaw would do the same, i can tell you guys not to bother. Shaw doesnt rent any HD terminal (which is a shame because i have an HDTV but can't justify the price for an HD terminal). Also i've found that Shaw has a "go ahead cancel, you'll come crawling back to us anyway" attitude towards cancelations. I work for Shaw and i've spoken with our "save" dept and they only remind the customer of all the great Shaw services they're getting (local channel, Shaw tv (ugh this channel sucks so bad), Shaw Messenger (who uses that anyway?), Shaw picture share, Shaw Secure (aka almost as bad as Norton), etc etc etc) and that's pretty much it. i've seen maybe one or two account that managed to get 29.99 for SHSI but they were mostly account with already over $120+ of cable services (and they didnt get any discount for their cable...)
My mom was thinking of switching to Bell (which i encouraged) but she wont be able to because she needs 7 outlets....._______________

no go from Rogers this morning
No luck this a.m. (11am, Mon June 12) from Toronto- had to threaten to cancel, was transferred, agent said no way on 2 year free rental of PVR, wouldn't come close to a match , best she could do was drop monthly fee on my current VIP package (reg. $56/mo) by $5.
Lots of ominous warnings about 'promises from Bell' and 'we know about this 2 year offer and there's more fine print than you probably realize' yada yada - call center flooded with RFD'ers?
