Well, I have an ongoing "dispute" with them over the 10 Speciality Channel administration error fiasco. I threatened to call Bell so this is a good follow up. I know Bell is offering 1 year but maybe they would offer 2 year if you are an existing Rogers HD customer. I am sick of getting shafted by being loyal to one company, so this is my chance to finally get something.Originally Posted by nepean19

You have to speak to customer relations. I find the 1st person you get on the phone at rogers can't offer anything, so I always ask for relations.
I am not aware of any Bell deal, but they obviously don't know what Bell is offering to customers, so i tried it. The thing is, they gave it to me so easily. I found it hard to believe they would give away a $600 box for free over a quick conersation, but thats what they did, twice.

I read on their website, they have something called VIP digital cable. I was curious what you have to do to get it since it said something about no digital rental fees, added benefits and discounts. Can someone please let me know what this is all about and what kind of discounts is included? Thanx, been wanting to switch to digital for a while.......cable fees are sure getting high and there seems to be less quality shows on tv.

keep in mind that rogers wont match deals from competitors for everyone. it depends on ur history with rogers, if you are a good customer and they think ur worth keeping then they will match it.
if you have been calling in, asking for continuous discounts, have late payments, etc, retentions might rather let u go elsewhere

I wonder if this would work with Videotron. I really need to upgrade my standard digital box to something newer, but they never seem to have any good deals.

2) I call Rogers customer relations and they won't bite on the 2 year HD PVR as they did with nepean19. I am shocked they gave it to him (good job nepean19 I would call you very lucky!). For your info, I have been with Rogers for over 6 years and have HD/Highspeed/2 cell phones with them so I am a customer they would be interested in keeping._______________

Apr 29th, 2006 11:02 AM #27Yes, this must be some kind of delicate art form. :-) I have played angry, reasonable, somewhat reasonable, less reasonable, etc and its only worked once with Rogers and that was for cell phone retention plans.

I spoke with someone in the sales department for cable services today. I told the rep about Bell Canada offering me a 2yr no contract HD PVR. The rep said he could not match it. He also informed me that I am on a 'better choice' bundle contract until next May'07 and if i wanted to break this contact it is $100 per service for the first year and $50 per service for a second year.
Im guessing because I am contracted, he did not care to offer me anything except to tell me it is an extra $25/month from a regualr digital cable service to an HD PVR rental service...
I guess OP got lucky.

I got it too !!
I just go off the phone with Rogers Customer Rel'ns dept. I also told them about Bell having a 2yr HD PVR free rental promotion and that I wanted to cancel my cable. The rep immediately said "we have the same promotion here too". I told her I wanted to talk to my husband first, and call her back.
She said I could talk to any customer relations rep and can get the same offer.
The second customer relations rep didn't know about the offer, but luckily the first rep had written a note in my file...
So I got 2yr HD PVR free rental (will pick up at local store and hook up myself)
1 free pay per view movie (need to use within 2 months)
1 month free specialty channel package (got the sports package)
I've been with Rogers for almost 20 years.
Currently have Cable/internet/wireless.
