They never advertised that any or all Raptors games would be in HD. How is this fraud exactly?
It's an HD channel for RaptorsTV, that gives them the ability to broadcast HD games. The weekly TNT games as well as some NBAtv broadcasted games are in HD.
What's the big deal?

yup, hopefully it will be smaller too like the newer non-HD digital box. I recently got a new SD digital box (Rogers Scientific Atlanta Explorer 1840) after cancelling and returning the old one from the other home, and was surprised how much smaller it is, eventhough it looks exactly the same on websites like futureshop.
I wonder why we don't get the cool looking Motorola ones like in non-Ontario provinces?

Well, the bell site seems to be down, and I did a quick search and found some information about bundle deals that bell is offering, but does anyone have specifics of a really great bell deal to throw at rogers?
I see on their website that they are offering 50% off of expressview for 6 months, and a $100 programming credit (with a 2 year contract... shhhhh dont have to mention that part
)
But in terms of a full package deal, what kind of discounts does bell offer / what is the best deal you have seen from them so that I can have some concrete information when making the call to rogers? I want to try to get the 50% and at least a free HD receiver (a PVR would be nice, but isnt necessary)
Thanks!

This was my current Television Charges:
"VIP Ultimate with Movies" = 83.66 after discounts
HD PVR Rental = 17.97 after discounts
Digital Service Fees = 5.98 after discounts
Total Bill = 122.68 including taxes
I was able to get them to change it to this:
"VIP Ultimate with Movies" = 83.66 after discounts
HD PVR Rental = FREE for 2 years
Digital Service Fees = FREE for 2 years
Total Bill = 95.37 including taxes
I'm now saving 27.31/month, or 22%, without any change in service! Thanks RFD!

just called twice, both times they didn't budge. said i already have a "better choice" discount of 5% locked in for 2 years and they couldn't add any additional % discounts off my bill. They also said they had nothing that could match the bell 2 year discount. I did mention the bell pvr free for 2 years and the channels for 35.50 and still nothing. any tips?

Well, finally made the call today
This is what I ended up getting:
My normal cable bill is $59/month for $39 / month
$5 service credit on 2 cell phones
$29/month high-speed internet for a year
I tried to get the HD terminal rental free, but couldnt haggle that one of those (they wanted $11.95 / month)... ill have to call back again in a few weeks and try to get one of those

Well, I finally got around to making the call on Friday. The auto-attendent didn't make it easy. First, I spoke to someone in the Consolidated accounts dept and he offered me 18 months free HD PVR and said that that was the limit that he could approve. I was at work and had to hang up and when I called back, I got someone else who wouldn't match that offer.
Got mad. Call retentions - btw, there are different retentions depts. I was connected to cable retentions and had to be transferred to Consolidated retentions.
Bottom line - I used the Bell routine - AND they did call me to switch about a year ago.
Ended up with the HD PVR free for 2 years, 20% off internet for 1 year, "pick and pack (?)" discount for 3 months worth $41.95/month.
Overall, it took me about 45 minutes for the last call but, I'm pretty jazzed about the HD.
There was none in stock for pickup - Pickering/Ajax - so they're shipping it UPS and it's supposed to be here Monday.
Way to go OP & all who called and got the deal!!

Note: I also have the SD PVR free for as long as I'm a Rogers customer - old promo and because I'm a VIP member, a SD STB free. THREE digital boxes and NO rental fees.Last edited by aztekasaur; Jan 21st, 2007 at 12:01 PM. Reason: Add note:

Better Choice Bundles
I'm new to this whole Forum thing...but I do have a questions that I hope others can answer.
My Better Choice Bundle of 15% was agreed to in Feb 2005 and should therefore be expiring next month. I have read a bunch of posts were people spoke of receiving calls or letters for Rogers before there plan expired. I have heard nothing from them at all.
So I ask everyone, did anyone else not get a call or letter? Did their discount continue after their expiry date? Did anyone negotiate a good/great/better deal during the telephone conversation they had with Rogers over their old 15% bundle? My discount is set to reduce to 5% if they catch me and I really want to keep my bill down.
Any assitance would be appreciated.
