download a program called cpu id, it will tell you what chipset your motherboard has, then look up the chipset on google to find out what kinda of max ram it can take. speed wise.

How to identify ???????
Hey guys thanks for visiting my thread...well i have one question.....how can i identify that wat's the max speed of memory my motherboard can suppot...3 years ago i bought a sony PCV-RS320...neither the sony website or the Manuals say any thing abt that....well right now i'm using PC2700 DDR SDRam and also...my mobo can support max of 2GB....
well again my ques is.....how do i know....wats the max speed my mobo can support... i mean PC3000 or PC3200...or so on....and plus....
wats the difference between the dual channel and single channel and....which one is better....... and can i installl dual channel on my mobo.....
how can i identify
is it good to install...one stick or 1GB memory or 2 sticks of 512MB......
and at last..... How can i identify that my mobo support sata Hard drive.....
My Mobo is from ASUS...and cant find it on there website......and there's no documentation for that....
Please lemme know...and is there any software to check all the Sh*T..........becauz opening the case is PIA.......

Learn to use google, the first link it found for PCV-RS320 was: http://reviews.cnet.com/Sony_VAIO_PC...2.html?tag=nav
which states:
There are 512MB of PC2700 SDRAM installed, but the motherboard's 800MHz frontside bus begs for faster PC3200 memory.
Using 400MHz memory, which the chipset supports, would have helped; instead, the VAIO PCV-RS320 uses 333MHz memory.

So yes, it should support PC3200 memory, but as for SATA? I think you're out of luck. You'll have to open your case to see for sure, but I see no mention of it.
