You should never go below 15-20% if you can avoid it.
Should also not charge right to 100% either.

Will greatly extend battery life.
The lesser the depth of discharge the longer life, exponentially.

Downside is you're getting less out of it per charge, of course.

How long do you plan on keeping the phone? That can change how you look at the problem. If it's a couple of years then it doesn't matter as you will probably switch device before the battery becomes a concern. A laptop may need more rigorous monitoring to make sure battery lasts many years.

This article mentions 2 people that think differently about the problem. One is that if you already fully charge your device, try to leave it plugged in to reduce the amount of time you reach that harmful 100%. The other person suggests keeping the battery between a certain range like 30-80% to extend life.

I start to panic about 40 percent.

Rarely go below 30.

It stays on the charger all night.

Replace my phone between one and two years. Never had a battery problem.

I try not to go below 15% which is when battery saver mode kicks in automatically. I do not charge unless the battery reaches 30%. What is the point of beating up the battery and then having to struggle to make it last a day in year 2.

I think it was over at MacRumours where I read you need to let it go down to <5% once in a while and fully charge it.

Since then I've been doing it at least 3-4 times a month.

The kicker, I don't know why I couldn't care less knowing I will sell it in 4-6 months. LOL
