Seat massager, though largely ghetto, should not cause any problems with the side air bag operation provided it doesn't have straps or protrusions that go around the side of the seat.

Seat covers though, will definitely interfere with side airbag operation and should not be used. However many newer seat covers, particularly custom-sized-for-your-vehicle seat covers do indeed have provisions for side airbags. These seat covers which are designed with the side airbags in mind, will pose no problem.
