Guaranteed? 0.
Least likely? So long as you're slower than someone else, you should be fine in most traffic situations.

How much above the speed limit can you drive without getting a speeding ticket?
On the 401 I have passed the cops when travelling at 120km/hr and they don't chase me down to give me a ticket. I just assume that the cops give speeding tickets on the highway when you are traveling above 120km/hr. Is this a fair assumption?
Regular roadways I am not sure, I just go 10km over the posted limit and I haven't been stopped for speeding.
So what is the max speed you can drive without getting a speeding ticket?_______________

There is nothing set for that which means its up to the officer thats there at the time. If they feel like it, they can easily stop you for going 120 in 100 zone. so you are taking a chance passing a cop going 120 on a 100 k limit zone. Sometimes they have lot more better things to do than stop you for a lousy 20 k over limit.

Well, it depends on your risk tolerance. As has been already said, if you want 100% certainty, you cannot exceed the limit at all. But in my experience, you'll be good 99% of the time if you do not exceed the limit by more than 10% when going through a radar trap. You'll probably be good about 90% of the time at 20% over the limit when going through a radar trap. When you go faster than 20% over the limit, your probability of getting a ticket in a radar trap goes up at a rapidly increasing rate!

Very generally, around 20%. 60 in a 50, 95 in an 80, 120 in a 100. It really depends on the speed of traffic though, you don't want to be the guy in the left lane racing by everyone else. At the same time, if everyone is going 135, get out of the left lane if you want to do 120.

I got a ticket for going 115 kms on the 401 & people were passing me & the cop just got in his car from giving someone else a ticket, So I think it really is just depends on how the cop feels at that time.

First, knock-on-wood. LOL
IMO after this BS Street Racing Law I think 45km over in 400 series is fine. I think they make it up with the driver's going over 50km+.
City, 20km over safe and 30km is pushing it.
School, Community and 50km zones I DO NOT fcuk around with.Last edited by bembol; Feb 7th, 2012 at 06:04 PM.

City : 10 over and below in higher risk areas.
Hwys: 15-20 on 400 series, 407 can go 30 but depends.
I do a LOT of city driving and have experience (and tickets too).
You can get ticket for going 5 over, but it can be knocked off in court.

Based on what I've seen in traffic courts, most cops in Ontario have their own discretion as to when they should stop a motorist for being over the limit.
-In school zones (40km/h), cops will stop motorists if you travel at 50km/h or over.
-In regular city streets where the speed limit is 50, 60, 70 or 80, usually they would stop motorists if they're travelling greater than 10-15km/h past the limit
-On 400 series highways, the OPP usually allow 20km/h over the limit.
By the way, I dont condone speeding.Last edited by jackiechan511; Feb 10th, 2012 at 01:36 PM.

As was said under 120 on the 401 is normally ok. One major caveat. If your tailing or weaving and a few ppl report you they will nail you hard.
Funny but true noticed a car racing a Police prisoner transport. Guess he figured they don't report that. He had a big surprise waiting for him when he exited the highway
