How much does a/c cost?

Just wondering...how much does an average a/c (6000-8000 BTU) cost to run for a month (assuming it is run a lot)....the reason I ask, one of my tenants wants to add an a/c to her apartment, and im open to it, its just that I pay for utlitities and that she would have to pay for the difference so I am trying to figure out what the a/c premium would be? I am tempted to say somewhere between 60 and 80 dollars a month for an a/c that is on a LOT or 40-60 for one which isnt on a lot...

Go with like $40.. if that's affordable for you then do it.. it will mostlikely cost less.. but assume the most.

i have an 8000BTU window a/c.. its on every day that i need it.

theres only about $20 extra on a full use month on my bill. its a lot less than heating the house in the winter!
the newer ones are a lot more energy saving than an older unit.

i suggest you actually see the difference on the bill before you decide on an amount.

Also consider that nobody will be able to tell you the effects of this summer's heatwave on their electricity bill yet, and that this summer's bill will be a lot higher than last summer's because the outside temperature has been so much higher for an unusually long time. Last year, we hardly ever went above 30C all summer.. there were only a few days.

A 3500W central air conditioning unit running 24 hours/day for 31 days at about $0.08/KWh would cost you about $210/month. That's the maximum for you could be billed an average house. Adjust downward as appropriate

That's really reasonable. I think Central Air is a lot more as that's what we have. Being a bachelor with a single window AC unit is so much more better. Down with family and all that shiznits.
