I recall a roll was around $2-3 but can't remember how long ago it was. Don't know how much is in a roll.
I also saw recently a site estimating 8-30 cents sq foot for DIY

Do you mind letting us know who you called for the quote? I might need to order some for this spring.

Sod rolls are 1 foot wide by usually 4 or 6 feet long. It can usually be picked up at a Garden Center for under $2/roll. The last time we bought sod IIRC we paid something like $1.49 or $1.69 roll. You only need to order it if you need a large quantity and want it delivered around here.

I bought it last spring in Saskatoon for 0.25 per square foot including delivery, and that was only for about 300 sq ft worth

Yep, your right fireguy, I'm not sure why I was thinking they were 1 foot wide. We have to call this week and see when the farms are going to start cutting sod, they usually don't start cutting till towards the end of May at the earliest. Fingers crossed that with the good weather it'll be a little earlier this year. We're been working our butts off all week re-grading our side yard. What a friggin' mess! Thank gawd for a rottotiller though when dealing with construction fill along with loads of gravel. Our grade was off by almost 2 feet at the house!

We live in a new house and they are laying sod today. We get another part of of our lawn sodded today! Only the front left to go. So I would think you could get sod at any point now.

 Odd, as that is the company that is laying the sod here. Maybe builders get first chance at it? The grass looks nice and green. *shrugs* Another week isn't that long to wait for grass tho.

I also got a quote from justsodit (Hamilton Sod) last week, $.29/sq ft for 650 sq ft.

They told me they will have sod ready May 1st.

Compact Sod, which is apart of JustSodIt, has put ours down. They are out of Cambridge. I can't say I know how much it is as the builder had it installed. It looks super nice out there now finally. Hope your sod goes well.

Most garden cte have sod on hand now. A few years ago some of the farms started cutting 2 x 5 sheets. Before that they all were cut 18" x 6 foot or 3' x 25' for sodding acerage lots.
