2 grand for a new transmission is not bad. These things are typically huge. But still on that new of a car I am surprised you need a new one.
As I mentioned Ironically in an earlier thread to fix my transmission(not replace) was 10 Grand. Perhaps you can prove the transmission is accident related and insurance can cover it. But if the premium sky rocket then you might be better off to fix it.
At 2 grand I almost expect a rebuilt transmission.

How much does a new transmission cost?
My 2006 Buick Allure was involved in an accident a month ago, right now the transmission doesn't shift properly anymore. I took it to the GM dealer where I purchased it and they say the transmission was damaged inside, and it take a while to get all the inspection details. They said the worst case is to replace a transmission which cost about 2000 dollars, I don't know whether it's necessary. Any of you guys have this kind of experience? What should I do?

The transmission is the 2nd most expensive part beside the engine.

So, what happened that your insurance did not pay for this? You can go back to them with an undiscovered problem. They should help.
If you got no insurance, then 2000 is a very good price for a tranny from the dealer.

$10k??? What kind of car is this? An S-Class or a 7-series? That's a crazy amount to fix an auto trans IMO. Well unless it's an expensive/luxury car that's recent...
$2k does not sound bad for the trans replacement (if it actually is a replacement they are doing). Hopefully insurance will cover it though!

I have no collision insurance for this car (well it's a damn stupid mistake), thus I paid all by myself to fix the damage except the transmission, because the autobody people said the transmission is fine. Well, after I got it back few days ago I noticed this problem...
Is is possible that to add full coverage right now and call the insurance company to fix it??

Collision insurance or not, Ontario is no fault isn't it? Or did you do a boo boo all by yourself?

The problem is that I am responsible for the accident, and I have no full coverage. This is the worst time I've ever had... Right now I've already paid 8500 for the damage of that car, I really don't have another 2000 for the stupid transmission....
I just hope they fix it without replacing...

Well that's why they are auto body people, lol. I.e. don't trust what they say about a trans--they aren't in the business of repairing transmissions. However, that isn't to say it isn't okay but then if it were okay why would the car not be shifting LOL. Seems like a contradictory story... How can the body shop say it's fine when you already said it doesn't shift properly? If it really doesn't shift right then there has to be some problem there.
Ummm... No. You'd have to add full coverage and then get in another accident and then say the trans was damaged from that accident, LOL. That would be fraud though of course, heh.Well, after I got it back few days ago I noticed this problem...

And wow $8500 already eh? Plus another $2k or so... I mean you may as well have just bought a new car, lol... Becuase that Buick is probably going to be worth less than that in a couple years anyway, LOL.

Well, since it's not you who is at my position now you wouldn't feel the dilemma. This car costs me 23000 dollars, if I don't repair the damage then it's gone! If you were me what would you do? Total the car and get another one?
