How much would it cost to paint a car?

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone here would be able to give me an approximate figure as to how much it will cost me to get my 1999 Corolla body painted? Just so I know what I am up for lol.

Thanks

Most places will charge you about 2k to paint the whole body.

Like barbotte said, take it MAACO. They acid etch the old paint, mask everything off, put on one coat of new paint, bake it and you are out of there the next day. They will not paint over rust and it will depend ow bad a shape the body is in. They will work hard to upsell you.
Is it worth it? Up to you.
If you go in for an estimate, then tell them you are not sure if it is worth it, tell them you will think about it and walk away, they will call you within a week and cut the price almost in half. They base everything on volume, if they cannot get enough cars, they lose.

A decent job will cost $2k at least...with top quality work up to $3k+. As people have said, a Maaco job might be your best bet since it's so cheap but it isn't really a proper paint job and the shoddy work will show through.

A new fad is to paint your car flat matte. That is to say, there is no gloss or any protection, if my understanding is correct. You can just get some house hold paint and a brush and paint your car but you'll need to sand the old paint off so it will stick to to the metal.

For some reason that looks really cool...I like the matte look.

That car may not have been painted matte. Vinyl job will do that. One of the first GTR's on the road was wrapped.

As others have said though, may not be worth it if the body is in bad shape.

The most tedious and time consuming part of a paint job is prep. Depending on how picky you are about over spray, orange pealing, etc. Just remember you get what you pay for and I've painted Corrado a few times in the 10 years I've owned it and each time it ran me anywhere from $2500-$3500. To do the job right you will want to remove your windows and replace rubber seals. This adds extra costs to the job.

How bad is the paint on your car now and how much longer do you plan on keeping it?

I have asked before and it would cost roughly 2 - 2.5k to paint an Altima with starfire pearl that you see on IS250s

LOL that's not done with a paint brush or household paint. It's a very expensive paint job with a special matte finish clearcoat.
