How is no one outraged by the Gas Prices?

When oil prices were $145 a barrel, we paid around $1.35 per liter.
Now oil is priced at $60 a barrel, we are paying around $1.22 per liter.

Yes the Canadian dollar is down 22%. Compensating for this, a barrel of oil is still $73.

So oil is down 50%, but we are paying 9.7% less for gas.

Seems pretty fair.

I'm outraged but live with it. Its one of those 'death and taxes' type deal. Somethings you can't run away from... Corporate profits and capitalism being one of them.

I love bitching about them on the internet though!
You can start by voting and engaging in politics and activism.

I am filling up for $1.75 per gallon in NJ last week. They certainly are getting the discounts filtered in. I guess I just have to figure that we don't.

I'm sure many are but what can you do about it?

Nothing!!

I remember when they announced GAS prices they always pointed out the numbers OP posted so I don't get it either.

We've been crying about GAS prices for years now and nothing has been done about it. Like I said you're just stressing yourself out. LOL

The thing is not how no one is outraged about gas prices but where are the people that can actually make a difference? I can bitch all I want but the politicians are the ones that can make a difference.
Don't take "market forces" as a reason for retail price. Market price is what the wholesale barrel of oil price is. What is happening to us is plain out gouging.
The Government cannot give to anybody anything that the Government does not first take from somebody else.

Is this a joke, another gas price thread? Why not just post in the other 4 threads we have on this topic? We need more clutter here I guess.

How, exactly, are politicians going to "make a difference" and reduce gasoline prices? The oil industry is struggling because of an oversupply of crude (and resulting low prices) because of actions taken by OPEC.

Politicians could reduce gas taxes, but that will come back to bite us because taxpayers have to cover the cost of infrastructure expansion and repair in the end. Politicians could cap gasoline prices, but that would result in a flurry of corporate bankruptcies and chronic fuel shortages.
