I can spot a fake just by looking at it's fit. The majority fakes have a horrible generic fit. Generally if the the sleeves or lower area of the shirt seem baggy and out of proportion it's a fake.
Ex. if the fit is like it's straight out of the nike store it's probably a fake._______________

looks fake, i believe lacoste polos are designed in france but made in peru.
also, check to see the buttons. they should be mother of pearl, 2 hole buttons.
the color doesnt look familiar either.

they should be mother of pearl
- not all the time. Retro fits have 3 Black buttons
colors, well, they have a lot, I'm trying to collect all the colors but some I just cant see myself wearing

as for the tags, Ive bought Lacoste from all parts of the world (North America, Europe and Asia @ Lacoste botiques) and I noticed some differences. Back in 08, the wifey just came back from HK and bought me a Lacoste shirt @ the boutique and the neck tag did not have the "Designed in France, Made in Peru" text (and yes, I know she got it from a legit store since I had the paper bag + saw her purchase on the bank statement).
If you've been wearing Lacoste for a long time you can spot a fake one in person by just touching the material (without even looking at the logo). Fake ones have very soft and light material.

Who cares if the shirt is fake.... as long as there is the logo on the shirt, you look rich and cool....

I think anyone above the age of about 18 realizes that there is no correlation between how much money someone has and what brand of polo shirts he wears. There are lots of people who make like 24k a year but buy $100+ polo shirts, and lots of people making 6 figures who buy $15 polo shirts. Read "The Millionaire Next Door", they surveyed hundreds of millionaires and most of them don't care about brand names when it comes to clothes. So unless your goal is to impress 16 year old girls, buy what YOU like not what you think will make other people think you're rich.
