How to transfer WhatsApp data from iPhone to Android

Hi,

I recently decided to part ways with my iPhone 6s and decided to buy Pixel 3. Now that I have Pixel 3 in my hand, I am not sure how to transfer WhatsApp data from my iPhone to Pixel 3. Any pointers will be highly appreciated.

Note: I have seen videos on YouTube and none seem to work a 100%.

Thanks,
Rohan.

As others have suggested, do a backup to cloud, switch phones and restore. That's it!

Can iPhone back up to Google Drive ?
I don't think so. I tried this recently and found it near impossible without paying for some service. I just abandoned my messages on my iPhone and went on with my life on android.

Yes.

On your iPhone, install and open the Google Drive app.
In the top left, tap Menu .
At the top, tap Settings .
Tap Backup.
Tap START BACKUP.

Couldn't you do a local backup and just move the appropriate files?

not from iphone. you will need to jailbreak it first to get the files and move it to the android.

The main reason I stay with Android. I was thinking about iPhone 8 or X last year, but I finally decided on Pixel 3 this year. I wanted to be able to transfer files hassle free between my phone and network (NAS) / Clouds (work related). I did jailbreak before but such a pain whenever Apple release IOS updates, a cat and mouse game.
