i had a similar case scanning an old desktop when avg is scanning a certain file under the windows folder but instead of freezing it reboots all of a sudden. i tried to reinstall os from scratch because i thought the system was infected by a virus beyond repair, but the rebooting is still happening even after
finally found out that ram went bed (did memtest), although the funny thing is that after putting the ram into the other empty slot, and putting in new ram into the slot in question, memtest detected no problems....
anyways i suggest that you also do a thorough check on your ram too as a remote possibility

First thing to do is remove any Rogers software on your pc and I hope it's not too late. Rogers should stick to providing internet and not screwing people's computers. I had so many people complain about their software so I just go over and uninstall everything and voila things work again.
Try Avast if you're looking for anti virus soft. You can find it @
You will also find you computer will move much better after you uninstall.

Update...
3 differant virus scans from 3 differant companies and it still locks or freezes my Laptop at the same spot... the file that it stops at everytime is
system32/DriverStore/FileRepository/
Anyone maybe give me some clue why this happens... It now only freezes my laptop when i go do a virus scan on my computer..
Thanks for any help you can give me..

Is it one specific file that freezes up the computer? If it is then try copying that file and see what happens.
I suspect you have a bad sector on the harddrive. I dont think this is a trojan issue.

chkdsk method works. You could even do to see if Windows is saying the harddrive already has errors or not. It should say when u run chkdsk
