Its also $5k relationship balance, so you could put it in a GIC and earn interest on it, and they do have decent GIC rate promos. So it's not completely dead money like some banks require.
couldnt find the promo

Ppl r saying they can put their 5k for 1.5 years in the savings account...

What my question is can you pay bills off your savings account? And what is the interest rate?

its better to pay bills with chequing account because there are transaction fee for using saving account
and I think there is bonus interest rate event going on,
I think like 3%?

Anybody sign up for the chequing account under their Newcomer program? If so, does the amount deposited into the account need to be maintained for certain time or no? TIA
You don’t have to keep 10k for very long, I only kept it in chequing for a week.

yup. a long year waiting to escape. Their apps and online access , all require different passwords etc etc. So complicated. You can't have the app on more than one device. If you get a new phone you have to phone in to get access on the new app. So much pain. I am scarred. Plus it took an hour at the branch to set it all up. The passwords have odd restrictions as well. Good luck picking them to match the restrictions and actually remembering them. If you forget, you basically have to call in and start from scratch.
Well, all for your safety. Not eveyone is going to have the account just for the account opening bonus.

I'm going into my fifth month since deposit and I still haven't received the $300. Going forward, one will have to assume this is a 1.5 year investment standard. I went in thinking (hoping), that was the worst case scenario

I would suggest to contact them via online chat or reach out to the person who opened an account for you. It shouldn't take 5 months to receive the $300.
