You got it - 9 digits only.

I don't want to confuse you lol, but it's worth mentioning that there is a time where you'd want to use the full 610-xxxxxx-150 and that's for incoming wire payments. But direct deposit is not a wire payment :)
Cool thanks, I'll just provide the 9 digits under account to my employer for the extra $100.

If this works out smoothly I think this was the easiest bank promo bonus I've participated. No BS 2 PADs, 3 Bill payments, etc etc where I have to plan and pre-plan. Just stick the 5k and get the bonus. The referral bonus is huge too, $200 extra by just referring 2 people.

Looking at the previous thread, the key difference here is that Advance currently requires 5k minimum deposit across all accounts, whereas it used to be 25k?

The premier account requirement, however, stays at 100k.

I'm tempted now.

Is there any way to get recurring deposit bonus without payroll ? Any workaround ?

Edit: Is it possible to open Premier, get the 500$ bonus and then convert to Advance?

You need to deposit 25k in Premier within 1month in order to receive the $500.

The minimum deposit and the HSBC Online banking registration must be completed within 1 month of account opening. The minimum deposit required will vary according to the opened HSBC Chequing Account: (i) HSBC Premier Chequing Account, minimum deposit required is $25,000 CAD; (ii) HSBC Advance Chequing Account, minimum deposit required is $5,000 CAD and; (iii) HSBC Performance Unlimited Chequing Account, the minimum deposit required is $1,000 CAD. (iv) HSBC Performance Limited Account, the minimum deposit required is $1,000 CAD.

Yes, 5k needs to be deposited into an advance account within a month of opening the account to waive any chequing account fees

But, can I move that money to a savings account and still get account fee waived ?

I.e 100$ in checking, 4900$ in savings ?

Yes, it's $5k in "total relationship balance" which includes chequing, saving, gic, investment, etc.

late Aug - late Sep.....1
late Sep - late Oct......2

You should expect to receive your bonus sometime in November.

Anyone receive the $100 for their direct deposit bonus yet? If so, how long does it take and how many direct deposit payments are required within your first 3 months? Is 1 enough?

Have not received it yet. Should have it by November 23rd. I've checked with customer service several times. They've told me that it takes the full 3 months. I've only had 3 payments paid from my place of work and those were in the span of two days.
I've been told I qualified.

Great. Will probably only get 2 pays in there myself so hopefully that's okay.

I received "Transfer XXXXXXXX STEP Bonus" $100 in the advance chequing account right after my payroll direct deposit came in, so i think it is direct deposit bonus, not referral bonus.
Also I chatted with HSBC agent and after checking with management he said direct deposit must be kept going for a full year although he acknowleged that it was not clearly stated in the T & C. So it is a grey area, I guess one can initiate a chat and capture the chat as proof of an agent saying direct deposit not required for a full year.
