Boo I guess CSR wasn't bs-ing me. Do you know if we have to call them to have it applied in Jan or will it do it automatically?
I've had times were one of the big 5 banks would refuse to let me redeem unless I called on a specific day or something. It was supremely annoying
It stated on their website: "Your Cash Back rebate will be applied as a credit to your HSBC Advance Mastercard account statement in January each year as long as your HSBC Advance Mastercard account is in good standing." i assume it should be automaticly.

I don't believe there is even a single report (in this thread) yet about anyone getting their $100 direct deposit bonus.

True. Thinking of holding off changing part of my payroll. T&C says you have 3 months since the accounts are opened to do it anyway

The best part about getting the bonus so quick is the liberation of $5k comes sooner! TC said 12 months after bonus posts :)

I wonder if they will enforce the 12 month rule. Need some brave souls to test the clawback threat.

Received the 100 payroll bonus just now. Fairly hassle free promo from HSBC. I’m planning on keeping the account since I don’t need a minimum in the chequing account for free transactions.

Do you mind sharing how many payroll deposits you have had in your HSBC account and when (what date) the first payroll deposit hit the account?

Also, what is the description for the payroll deposit (ex. For referral credit, it shows up as STEP bonus in the account)

My payroll deposit started August 15, semimonthly. Description says HSBC 2018 Payroll Bonus.

I'm not too concerned with it b/c it's earning a return unlike the other banks signup bonus. I'll just wait 12 mo.

I also received the $100 payroll deposit bonus today. I set up bi-weekly deposits and the first payroll deposit was made on Aug. 24.

but say if we close Advanced account after 6 months rather than 12 months, we would have doubled our rate of return.

In what? Did you opened a HISA?

I think they had a HISA promo or something of 3%+, is it available online?

EDIT: Bah, it's only until 15 Nov. Hoping for a longer promo coming up.
