I my own defense, I had mistaken McLaren's post to be the OPs and hence though the OP was telling us what the truck driver did.

I'm surprised the truck driver didn't call his company. I don't think he, nor his company, would want their insurance to go up because of this incident. I had a friend who had a similar experience and she was given the total book value of her car as well as a fairly large payment for trouble. If I were you, I'd contact the company the guy was driving for and demand some sort of compensation.
