I install 1GB Kit dual channel for my friend's SLI Mobo, how come it shows 2GB??

I helped my friend ot install 2x512Mb 1GB Kit for his Asus SLI Mobo A8V Deluxe. When I checked the bios setting, it shows 2GB installed. If I install 2 x 256MB, it shows 1GB??

I guess the first obvious question to ask is did you install them in the right slots? Ideally, both in the blue slots.

Also, what happens when you only have one 512mb chip installed?

I say check what Windows tells you too. It may just be a bug in the mobo? Flash Bios, or else RMA it

i exchanged the other Mobo and the same thing happened.

I put them into the black slot, not the blue one.
