seriously, i have slept through fire alarms and stuff when I dont get my 7 hours of sleep. and no i do not have sleep apnea or whatever those sleep disorders are... I'm just a heavy sleeper.
I was wondering what alarm clock one could use to get up. something not too expensive but effective. something really really loud.

you want one of those old wooden print(plastic) alarm clocks made by Citizen. I remember my bro used to have one of those in his bedroom, it used to wake me up too. Theres also 1 room between us. Sorry, cant seem to track down a pic. Its a digi alarm from the early 90's
you could also put your alarm on AM radio inbetween stations and turn it really loud. I'm not sure if the sound of static would be enough to wake you though_______________

No, you're not entitled to your own opinion, you're only entitled to what you can argue for.
Otherwise, don't start.

oh wow, I should sell you my Citizen alarm clock...........it fricking blares and scares the crap out of me. Pretty old but reliable.
I stopped using it as an alarm clock, it was too loud. I use my Timex watch and its soft "beep-beep, beep-beep"
:arrowu: hahah wow.............mine is black and silver, probably from the late 80s_______________

i have about 3 alarm clocks spaced out across the room. 2 close to my ear. 1 further away that requires some energy to move and switch off.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked ruthless29 for this post.

Do this and discover if you ahve an internal alarm...before you go to sleep, tell yourself to wake up at a reasonable time...like 8am or something if you slept at 12 or 1...and practice waking up on your own.
If you sleep through fire alarms, you need to see someone about that.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked Dota for this post.

Get an engineering buddy to attach a taser to an alarm clock. You'll never miss another buzzer again.

I've done this before: dissect a cheap clock radio, and unsolder the wires to the existing tiny little speaker and wire it up to larger, more "capable" speakers. I used an old AC delco 6x9" (I think?) car speaker. Wakes me up real nice now... and my neighbours...

Wow.....your exactly like me. I can't wake up on my own for sh*t!
I keep two alarm clocks on my pillow right next to my head, and they BLARE loudly, and I sitll don't hear it. My mom ends up waking up from down the hall, comes into my room to turn it off :|
What I found effective sometimes was if you have your comptuer in your room, use a simple program like this:
Karen's Alarm Clock:
http://www.download.com/Karen-s-Alarm-Clock/3000-2350_4-10254968.html?tag=lst-0-1
(a simple program someone made using VB i believe)
And choose an MP3 with a heavy "base" intro. I use various hip hop songs. I'd recommend "Let's Go" by Trick Daddy ft. Twista. Turn up your subwoofer a bit. Leave your speaker volume turned up with yoru computer on...and you'll wake up in "shock" lol...
my dad tells me its really bad for me to wake up "all freaked out" to the loud base...but its the only thing that gets me up on my own =(...is something wrong with me???
Anyways, good luck!LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked SwiZz for this post.

I don't know about any wooden alarm clock, but if you get the one that basically has 2 metal bells and a metal stick hitting the damn thing, you'll be fine.
I have several in my house and trust me ... I feel like I'm having a heart attack when I wake up BUT AT LEAST I don't sleep in.
I set several alarms at several different times to get up. Works sometimes.
I also have an electronic rooster from Kellogs which is interesting._______________

I found this thing called AlarmClock from Green Software for my PDA.
Isn't that loud if you try it when you're awake, but goddamn it's irritating when you're trying to sleep,_______________
