i5-2500k vs i5-2550k vs. i5-3570k?
I'm an amateur with computer parts and was wondering if I could get all three chips around the same price, which one should I go for? I know the 2500k has rave reviews from people, and I haven't heard much about the i5-2550k and i5-3570k. The rest of my setup is as follow if it factors into my decision:
Mobo: ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 Socket
GPU: MSI GTX 460 Hawk Edt in SLI
Or if you have any other suggestions for a processor around the 250$ (tax in) for a SLI build, which I will be doing some gaming on. I might do some overclocking when I understand more but at the mean time, everything will remain stock.
I appreciate any input!

The 2550k runs 100Mhz faster, but it has no integrated graphics and therefore lacks Intel's Quicksync technology. Quick sync is very good for quick video encoding. If you will never need quick sync or the integrated graphics, get the 2550k, otherwise get the 2500k.
Though, since the 2500k is more popular, sales on it are usually much better than the 2500k. Best ive seen so far is $200 for the 2500k, so unless you can get the 2550k for that price, stick with the 2500k :P

it looks like youre going for a gaming build? i would just get the one that is cheaper. THere isnt much difference between them for gaming performance.

for the price right now, i would recommend an ivy bridge, i5-3570k, it supposedly runs 5-10% faster clock for clock, eg 3.4ghz 2500k is slower than 3.4ghz 3570k

Ivy bridge runs significantly hotter when overclocked. 2500k is cheaper and overclocks better.

The board you want to get needed to be on the latest bio or else it will not boot with an ivy bridge cpu

My brother had the same decision. We went with i5-3570K PM at ME for $199.99. I think we would have went with i5-2500K if we couldn't get the PM at $180 at PCV.
Also bought AsRock Z77 Extreme4 so that we can reuse his Scythe Ninja cooler.

I'm not sure about overclocking or particular performance, but I find this site useful for comparing processors:

I hope that helps.
