That definitely was the best deal on an ultrabook this year!!! I kept checking RFD everyday for the past few months for a deal on the Samsung Series 9 but still missed that deal as it was posted within an existing thread!!!

Kickiny myself for missing such an awesome deal...Dont think Boxing day would have anything close to match that deal!!
I am hoping so. I wished I had the cash for that at the time...

ASUS S Series 15.6" Laptop w/i5-3317U, Win 8, 6GB RAM, 24GB SSD 750GB HDD, 4-cell battery - $599......

If this had a good gpu I'm depressed I missed out, anyways on the market for a laptop as well so I'll be in here as well
I bought it too (with the GT 635M video at Staples), I think it went relatively unnoticed since it was at "regular" price on Black Friday (but has since went up in price the last time I checked)...I can also confirm 3 hours battery, the fragile DVD tray. I can play Starcraft 2 on med/high settings, haven't tried other games yet. I have a review in my signature if anyone is interested. I'm happy with it so far for the price.

Definitely Relevant to my interests. It's time to buy my first laptop, and all I'm looking for is an ultrabook that does internet and word. I've never paid attention to laptop prices, do they drop significantly this time of year?
Same position, looking for one to get for school. Nothing except word + browsing + movies. Has to be windows based for school.

definitely I was waiting for a score on a Thinkpad X1C or the S9 and somehow ended up with the 128 4GB i5 S9 for 829 (with some coupon stacking + credits @ stooples). Then thankfully 2 days before my return policy was up I see the $1600 model for $899 definitely can't be beat at the moment. Now I gotta look for a slim external HDD for this bad boy.

A week ago I went to order the X1C Touch. Someone had noticed a weird glitch in the online ordering system where changing the OS type dropped the price to $1100. I then applied a 10% off coupon. The glitch appeared to remove the touch display and leave the regular X1C display. Ultimately the price came to about $1000 + tax for a configuration that matched a standard X1C! Laptop hasn't shipped yet but if I'm lucky, maybe it will include the touch screen :D (though not really expecting to)

in my humble opinion if you are going to use win 8 and plan to use the laptop for more than 2 years, it will be a mistake to not buy a laptop with touch screen.

why do you need touch screen? I think its a gimmick or at least for people like me who are on a computer A LOT...
