Expedia for TD only have the bigger rental companies. I booked with Avis at first but the review wasn't too good so went with Budget instead. $230cdn for 4 days. But might cancel that too and book something a bit more expensive with a better review.

Icelandic króna has increased significantly against all currencies over the last few years. Even USD has devalued against the ISK.
I wonder what the exchange rate was prior to the 2010 banking crisis. It must be getting close now...

Just want to remind everyone that if you are getting gas make sure your credit card has 4 pins only. My main card with 6 pins did not work in any gas station, good thing i have a back up card.

It was colder than i thought it would be lol. But overall it was amazing. Seriously I think you need at least 1 week there. Just the scenery is amazing. You will have an urge to stop every 5 mins to take pictures. They said it's the dry season in June but it was raining on and off the whole time. good thing for 23 hrs of day light, it's hard to get used to at first. you will think it's like 8pm but actually it's closer to midnight already.

Good to know, thanks. 2 weeks and counting ;)
they don't have gas attendant, just you and the machine. Pay first at the machine and then you can fill up.

Except for small villages and such, all real petrol stations have a shop/restaurant attached. In which case you can always choose to pay inside with cash or non-chipped card or whatever.
Most are open until at least 21:00 or 22:00; a few in the capital region are open 24 hours.

Amazing place. Need at least a week if you want to drive around the ring road.

The ring road goes around the country. You will want to spend at least a week in Iceland so you can stay a night in certain towns around the country. like Vik, Hofn, akureyri.. etc

Thanks, I know where the road is/what cities it touches, was just curious how long your trek around was since you suggested 1 week minimum.

We did it in 6 days, but the last day was a lot of driving (Akuyeri to Reykjavik, or basically one quarter of the country). The more time you have, the shorter your daily driving distances.
