Not sure when Ikea first started this but I'm going to guess it's fairly new as I don't see it on their main website. No loyalty points or anything like that, though the monthly product discounts make this most interesting for me. Example: This month the Hemnes 6-drawer chest is $199.00 for members, $249.00 regular.
Free sign-up on the website - http://family.ikea.ca/

Additional discounts in our restaurant*
A chance to win a $100 IKEA Gift Card** every time you scan your card in the store (1 winner/month for each participating IKEA store)

The free coffee/tea is only in the restaurant not at the bistro.
I picked one up last week at the Ikea Etobicoke store.
You can view a YouTube video on it here:

What if you visit multiple Ikea stores, do you need a different card for each?

Someone needs to fix the audio!

By the way, the Etobicoke location is the only one where you can sign up this family card for now. I have tried all other locations and got the same response:
Get notified
We're sorry, IKEA FAMILY is not yet available at IKEA XXXXX. Want a heads-up when your store has IKEA FAMILY?
If you want to be notified you can join their list and they will let you know once your location becomes a participant.Last edited by althetrainer; Mar 4th, 2012 at 03:46 PM.

Neat! I'll wait for the North York location to join.
BTW, food at the restaurant sucks... I'm as cheap as any other RFD'er, but I couldn't stand the coffee - had to throw it out and grab one at McD's on the way out...
