I only saw AAA left for the same price last Sunday. Tons in the lighting dept. and by the checkout.

FYI: The new 1000 and 500 mAh AA and AAA batteries, respectively, are re-branded Eneloop Lites which are known for high recharge count and good charge retention.

What does that have to do with the batteries on sale at 1.99?

Calgary IKEA has the old AAA Laddas (4 pack) for $2.99 now. Couldn't find any AAs.

They're downstairs in the lighting section.

Looks like someone got all the AAs. Only AAAs left. Grab a few. Thanks!

This was such a screaming deal!
I picked up 60 batteries during this sale. Wish I had purchased more.
I have them powering everything that needs an AA or AAA battery in my house!
Remotes, toys, cordless bluetooth radio, accessories, noise machines, keyboard, mice, pepper grinder - on and on it goes.
Do these expire? Or is lifespan simply based on charge counts

Took you a year to reply back? ;)

They have 500 recharge cycles.

NiMH batteries often lose capacity, stop holding a charge for long, can't discharge at high rates (when running high draw devices) and/or can have trouble terminating during charging when they are dying. That said 500 cycles means even if you recharge once a week they should last about 10 years.
Older batteries would also die from age, though the chemistry has improved so i don't know if that is still true.

Nice answer thanks- I was aware of the 500 cycles, just wasn't aware of shelf life when not being used. I still have 5 packs unopened.

It doesn't always work this way, with top of the line Eneloop they do fine even if they are old and very used, with many Rayovac i have that are 5-10+ years old they have gone crazy and i had to toss them being far below 500 cycles. It all comes down to brand, the crummy/older technologies are not very long lived, the high end ones work great even after a decade.
I don't know where the Ikea ones fall, but at the low price you will certainly get your money worth.
