Collection Agency's can't legally call on holidays either. They get audited, for that type of stuff.

is this illegal??
long story short, i work at home for a company that is working on behalf of a political party right now and is calling and asking for constituents for their support etc...
anyways as we all know the election is next tuesday the 14th, many people are being scheduled to work on monday the 13th which is Thanksgiving. is it even legal to call people on a holiday?? i can't find any information on anything about this other than collection agencies...

Interesting question. I am not positive, but I do not believe it is illegal. Collection agencies are a separate issue. According to the info below, telemarketing is NOT actually restricted on statutory holidays (don't know if this has always been the case, but apparently it is since the Do Not Call registry came into effect). If this falls under that category, it would be permitted. Even further, since it is a political party it is also less likely to be restricted since political parties are also exempted from the new Do Not Call legislation.
So, my guess is that if telemarketing is permitted on stat. holidays and political parties have even less restrictions than political parties, these calls on Thanksgiving are allowed.

"Telemarketing is restricted to the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on weekdays, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekends, in the time zone of the recipient, without regard to statutory holidays (ostensibly because the CRTC is of the view that telemarketing does not normally occur on statutory holidays)."
