My cat died this week; he was only 5 yrs old.
One night, his hind legs just gave out and he was crying out in pain. We rushed him to the emergency vet, but never made it. He died on the way.
The vet thinks it was an aortic thrombosis, but without an autopsy he couldn't say for sure.
I've had other dogs and cats (one for 19 years) but none of them has affected me like this one. I haven't been able to focus for the last few days.
Enjoy your pets while you can, they're only here for a short time!

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Your kitty is adorable and what a nice picture! Losing a pet can be devastating. When I lost my lab, it took me quite a long time to get to the point where I wasn't thinking of him constantly. I always frame photos of my pets for my wall and hang them among family photos. They're a nice reminder to never forget how much happiness they brought me.
Pets are like children. When they arrive, we invest our love and hearts into them which makes losing them difficult. Because of this, some people choose not to have a pet again. For me, it's the opposite. I love their presence and caring for them.
I hope you find another pet to love in the near future.
Take care.

I couldn't have said it any better than okaywithme... I am so sorry for your loss, people sometimes underestimate how hard it is to lose a family pet. It will just take time to stop grieving as you are now, and in time you will just remember the happy times
But in the meantime, talk to a friend or family member who understands, allow yourself to grieve. It will be ok

It's hard when they go too soon. I lost a cat when he was 19, I grew up with him and it didn't hurt as much as when my cat died at 12. When he died, a friend told me to cherish the memories and that was important advice. I went through my albums and pulled out pictures that represented various point in his life. I took lots of pictures of him as he was my first pet alone when I moved out on my own. I had pictures from when he was a kitten, as he went through his awkward stage, at Christmas, of him climbing trees, sitting in the bushes, playing with his toys, in the snow etc. I even had pictures of him when he was mad as he had a temper. I carried these pictures with me and showed them to anyone who cared to look at them and they reminded me of all the wonderful times I had with him. Whenever I was sad, I would look at them and think about what a wonderful pet he was. In the beginning I would cry but soon I began to smile when I'd see them. The pictures were always very comforting. He died 9 years ago and I still take out those pictures and enjoy them. The pictures never did get put back in the albums. I am going to pull them out now. I recently came across old videos of him and it was wonderful to see him running around again.
Your cat is gone, but you still have the memories. Enjoy them.

The Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called The Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

So sorry for your loss. I went thru something similar a few years back and my little Ozzy kitty was only a year old. It broke my heart to let her go but it was what was best for her.
time will help heal your hurt I promise <3_______________

Cats are very very special gifts here on this earth- each one is special, unique, and beautiful. Your pain is crystal clear, and very real. Hang in there, it will get better!!!!
If you get a chance to go to petloss.com you may want to post a tribute, or take part in the candle ceremony one night.
The sudden death of your cat must have been a tremendous shock to you.
I remember going around to the spots my cat would sleep on, and smelling them. Their scent lingers for a long time.
Peace be with you. Keep a careful eye open for the next cat you are supposed to care for - you will know when the time is right who you are next supposed to help out. I have great faith that your cat who has passed on will let you know.
Your cat had such pretty eyes, and such a beautiful face. May God Bless her.

I just lost my 8 year old cat today. I am equally as devastated as you. Mostly due in part to the fact I have never had to deal with a loss in my life time before.
