Income Tax Question: Writing off Seminars?

Hi everyone, I have an income tax question about writing off expenses related to attending seminars. Little bit of a backgrounder, I’m currently in the beverage industry and I’ll often attend seminars on a myriad of topics related to my field outside of work hours. In my our yearly appraisals, there is a heading that looks at what employees have done to upgrade and hone our skills over the year, hence my attendance at these events. However, there is no reimbursement by my company for attending such outings.

Because they are professionally related, am I safe to claim the cost of these seminars on my taxes or is it too much of a stretch?

Thanks for the input!

Seminars assuming in the same context of conferences are deductible but usually for business or self employed. Looks like you're an employee so this isn't available to you.

Deductions are allowed max 2 per year, if held by professional, relate to your business, and within your territorial area.
