Incorrect item in incorrect shelve? Do I get the better price?

Today I seen this at futureshop. The lens does not match the description of the holding unit it is on.
Someone suggested on Twitter that I get it for the lower price.

True or false?

If that was true then couldn't anyone just go around switching the price tags of everything they wanted with a lower priced tag?

Xactly... besides there's a scannable bar code on the price ticket. Quick scan would show it's not the 70-200 L lens. Also, scan of a new box at cashier would show the same. That's like someone putting a ford escort price tag on a new ferrari f12 berlinetti, lol. No one is gonna believe it.

Welcome to the interwebs. Don't believe everything people tell you on twitter.

You had to ask so you obviously know you shouldn't get it at that price.

No, because the item description is CLEAR and it DOESN'T fit the actual product. (200 vs 300 mm)

If it jut said "CANON LENS" or something like that, you could argue that you reasonably expected it to be that product.

It happened the other ay at the grocery, they have some salad tagged on special, which just said "salad" and it rang up at a different price at the til. They realized they had put the wrong label there, but I still got the product completely free (SCOP) because, well, salad is salad, I had reason to believe this was the correct price for that product.

False.

SCOP doesn't even apply.

SCOP isn't enforced by law, at least not anywhere outside of Quebec. It's a VOLUNTARY program that SOME retailers partake in. I'm pretty certain FutureShop is not one of them.

FYI, SCOP is also voluntary in QC. Any merchant can opt-out by simply tagging each item's price individually (the old way).

You are clearly trying to cheat them to get a discount. I'm not saying your wrong. But you should know that price matching or SCOP does not apply here. If you argue enough claiming you didn't know the real price when you go to purchase it they may or may not give you the deal.

If it was my store. I would apologize and give you a $5-10 gift card. Then make sure I change the appropriate signage.

Oh, alright, just a little mishap, confusion gone. That's good, because I pretty much agree 100% with your post ;)
