Currently looking at a new build within the next coming weeks, so far I only have the power supply. I'd just like some input or recommendations. This current build should be within the $1200-$1300 range.

-Processor Intel Core i7 2700K / 2600k depends on future sale prices
-Memory Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B Vengeance Blue 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600
-Hard Drive SSD Crucial CT128M4SSD2 128g

2600k is way to go, u won't sell an used 2700k for much higher than 2600k. The premium u pay for 2700k is not justify.

Wait for the ti on sale. If u can wait, use onboard first

Thanks for the info, wasn't sure if the 2700k was worth the premium.. as for the 560 Ti.. is there really a noticeable difference that I should wait?

I can vouch that the 560 Ti is pretty kick ass. Or its me, but I upgraded from a 8800 GTS 640MB which I've had since December 2006 since its launch and its definitely a HUGE improvement. I am running this GPU successfully on my current LGA 775 rig and with my power supply (Corsair 65T 650W 80Plus) since Oct 2008 with ease. Can see an improvement for sure.

However those options you have for a future build seem pretty good. I am pretty much in your boat, but have decided to keep my Antec 900 (USB 2.0) case and my Corsair PSU. New parts I've got are CPU - i2500K, Mushkin 8GB DDR3 RAM from CC's weekend sale, but still mobo hunting (per my thread about mobos with on board GPUs heh). Got an OCZ Agility 3 120GB SSD for $90 back a week or two ago from NCIX. As for my current mech hard drives, I am keeping them for storage/slaves.

Of course I have decided to sell my LGA 775 board, the RAM, the Q6600 and the 8800GTS.

Is it going to be used for any other intensive programs besides gaming?

If its just gaming, lower the CPU to a i5 2500k and get a better video card.

+1

Unless you know the reason you need an i7 an i5 will almost always be more than enough. There are no real gains in real world gaming by using an i7 over a 2500k because most games don't use more than 2 cores anyway.

That should free up $100 which I'd put into the video card. 7850, 7870 are both better cards in my opinion.

Thanks for all the input.. as for my rig I shouldnt be gaming too much. Perhaps some BF3.. maybe a little ARMA 3. Im not really the gaming type, I just want my rig to excel at multi tasking, video processing and such. Also I want my pc to last me a while, hence the somewhat overkill on the processor.
