Insurance Quote Questions Auto & Home
Got my renewal policy today and my insurance says to be going up around $33 bucks a month or a few hundred a year.
I am with the former ING now INtACT
Just did a quote for home & auto from TD and get a quote of around $500 a less then my new intact quote.
Can anyone help me with reasons why not to switch?
, property damage included,
INtact is giving me a renewal at Auto at $2493
with 1,000,000 liability
$500 deductible
Home at $606
New quote is showing me
Liability limit 1,000,000
Collision coverage 1000 deductible
Comprehensive coverage 1000 deductible
Goodbye DeductibleTM No
Grand Touring Solution® Yes
No. 43 - Removing Depreciation Deduction No
No. 43S 5-Year Replacement Cost Solution® No
No. 70 Accident forgiveness No
No. 13C Comprehensive coverage deletion of glass Included
Accident benefits Included
Optional Accident benefits Not Included
Uninsured motorist Included
No. 44 - Family protection Included
Direct compensation - property damage Included
Auto at $2,187.00
Home at $442
Total $2629
Versus $3147
Besides the deductible, what am I missing?
What do I need to look for? Any advice is appreciated?
The TD Home insurance sure sounds better. This is the platinum level.
Thanks

Make sure you call TD as they will need to verify your details in order to confirm this quote.

I've noticed that TD has beaten my ING ( INtact now ) in past few months on quotes, before they where $400+ more.
I believe Intact uses 2 mill as standard and 500 deductable unless you have set with yours already at what you got quoted from TD.

from what I can see, you have declined coverage for glass on the auto which means you have no windshield replacement coverage, you declined the accident waiver protection..you really should have the accident waiver...
I know INTACT have made some increases... you could increase your ded on the house to 1000, this would give an approx 13 % discount. make sure you have sewer back up coverage to the limit of the policy and that you have comprehensive coverage. Best thing would be to call a few brokers to have a new home evaluation done on your property to make sure that it is insured for 100% of the replacement value....did you just pop in the current value of the house coverage into the online quote with TD? That will only give a quote for what you currently have, but you still need a broker to do an up to date evaluation..
hope that helps...feel free to pm me if you need more help.

There are 2 types of accident waivers. One is forgive but not forget, the other is totally forget. Unless I was misled by the CSR guy in TD insurance, their Accident Forgiveness Coverage is Forgiven but not Forget. I remembered the CSR clearly told me that if I don't have that coverage, and if I have an at fault accident, my Driving Record will go straight to zero. I just relayed what I heard from a TD CSR.
However, intact do have 2 levels of accident forgiveness coverage, the first layer is Forgive and Forget (your 1st at fault accident have no impact on your DR at all) and the 2nd layer is (Forgive but not forget). If you have this kind of coverage, you basically need 3 at-fault accidents to have your Driving Record 9 drop down to 0.
HTH,

You repeated what I just said... if you are at the highest rating and have an at fault with this coverage, you will remain at the highest rating..2nd at fault will amend to a 5star then a 3rd will be a 0 or non renewal...If you are at the highest rating, without this coverage and have an at fault, you will drop to a 5star right away......there are no levels with INTACT maybe td has different rules. Insurance companies never forget an at fault loss regardless.
If, however, you are rated a 5star or lower and have an at fault, you will drop to a 0 just after 1 at fault - most companies will only offer accident forgiveness if you are a 6star driver or higher.

Could you post the options included in your TD Home insurance quote? There is a huge difference between $500 vs $1000deduct and, include/not include "below surface water insurance" (and silv/vs gold/vs plat though you did mention plat)
My quotes though TD (phone rep) range from $394 to $900 depending on the choices of the above options so it's pretty useless to discuss home insurance without all the details. (This is including the discount for having auto with them).

I really dont get it all.
My current insurance broker is on vacation for about the 10th time this year so I can't talk to him until next week.
TD was just allowing me to pick various coverages (best price, Best value, best coverage)
If I choose best coverage it ends up being more then ING.
I have not had a house evaluation done and not sure I plan to? The house is 4 years old. When the quotes are asking me for replacement value is that everything? IE. All content inside/out? Propery/Home etc.

Your Broker has no one else running the office?
Replacement value is done by the Broker by asking questions such as construction of building, sq footage, type of floorings, roofings, # of bathrooms etc etc - it will evaluate the cost to rebuild the house. Do not confuse this with Real Estate values. Your Broker would have done one 4 yrs ago when you obtained house insurance. When you switch to another company, the new Broker will do a new one. You really should have a new one done if its been almost 5yrs anyhow.
Maybe you should call some other Brokers and discuss options with them on the phone instead of doing online quotes which aren't too detailed in information.

Yeah I will. I dont know if he's got anyone running the office. I do know one thing, he's always going on vacation and most be banking in off these increased premiums!
I find it difficult to understand what I actually have in my current insurance from INtact.
I can see my auto has 1,000,000 liability and the deductible is $500 - the rest is a bunch of codes and stuff.
