[Canada Computers] Intel 330 series SATA3 SSD 180G $141.14, 120G $108.21 after MIR

Intel has MIR for 330 series SSD, $70 rebate for 180G (SSDSC2CT180A3K5) and $30 for 120G (SSDSC2CT120A3K5)

180G from Hookbag $141.14 after MIR, free shipping:
http://www.hookbag.ca/product/H3C06N1SU/
Edit: hookbag is not on the Intel MIR store list. Buying from hb may not be eligible to MIR, although one may use it for PM.

120G:
Canada Computers has Intel 330 series 120G SSD for $139.99:

Hookbag is slightly lower at $138.21:

Intel MIR:

330 has Sandforce controller, same as 520 series but cheaper (some say it's bin2 of 520). Reasonably fast. I have one for some months, happy with the performance.

Price is competitive with MIR, plus Intel reliability.

Hookbag is not on the MIR list. You would need to buy it from NCIX and PM it since MemoryExpress has no stock.

Only valid on purchases made at Amazon (US & Canada) Tiger Direct (US & Canada), Newegg (US & Canada), Buy.com (US only) NCIX (US & Canada), Memory Express (Canada only), mwave (US only), Canada Computers
(Canada only).

Also, 520 and 330 aren't the same. 520 is a Marvell-based unit with a 5 yr warranty whereas the 330 is a Sandforce-based unit with a 3 year warranty.

I hope that the large MIR is a victim of competition. $30 to $70 rebate on items costing $100 to $200 is a bit much.

510 is Marvell based, 520 AFAIK is SF based.

Whoops, that's right. Totally forgot about Cherryville. :o That would be Sandforce.

I still have 2x 320-series 160GB from the last time Intel did the big MIR rebates (they came in the form of AMEX gift cards). The SF drives give better performance and this 180GB offer after MIR is a bit lower than what it was earlier last month. It's a good size as a primary HDD for a desktop, though you'll want something bigger if you're a heavy laptop user (waiting for the 512GB M4 to drop below 300 :D ).

Thanks. Corrected about the hookbag info.

520 and 330 use the same SF controller. But 330 has a stick 'bin2' inside, based on reviews. I opened mine and indeed there is a 'bin2' stick. The speculation is that 330 is bin2, or lower grade, of 520.
