Intel (Council Bluffs) 945G Viiv Motherboard
Anyone know if this motherboard will support Intel Quad Core Q6600 Processor? The system currently has an Intel Core2 Duo Processor E6320 installed and I wanted to upgrade it to Quad Core. The Specs for the motherboard is located here but it is not up to date since it does not even list Core2 Duo support.

945 chipset will not support quad cores. 965/975 chipsets and up will support it.

Thanks for the response. Any ideas what the fastest processor that it will support is?

I don't think E6850 will work because it is ment for 1333 FSB board and mines is 1066 FSB.

I don't think that board can handle the 1333Mhz FSB featured on the E6x50 processors. It could work, so you can get one and hope it does. Otherwise, the X6800 is your fastest alternative.
Why are you looking to upgrade it? If you play games, that integrated graphics chip already bottlenecks your E6320. In every day applications you won't notice a difference.
Edit: beat me to it

Thanks for the reply. My system already came with a NVIDIA 7500 LE video card. Looking to upgrade so I can get games like FSX running and Crysis running with some descent frame rates.

It will be your graphic card limiting you the most, not your CPU.

i believe it will support the processor but run at a lower FSB
