Technically this CPU deal was supposed to be over on the 26th but b-com hasn't updated their site so it should work.

$241 after price match. The B-COM price doesn't show up on shopbot or any of those sites.
You can also PM the Asus p9x79 motherboard for $224. If you're ok with a MSI mobo you can PM one for about $175 at ME but I don't have the links for that anymore.
$239.99 B-COM: http://www.b-com.ca/product.php?prod...04&cat=&page=1
$299.99 ME: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX36745
The definition of a "hot" deal is a deal so cheap that you buy it even if you don't need it. This doesn't fit that.. but it's pretty good if you're in the market anyway.
Ordered both. Hope someone can benefit from this.

Would it not be better to wait until Ivy Bridge is out (it's almost here) so that prices on Sandy Bridge drop even more? This processor is worse than the 2600k and slightly better than the 2500k.

I was thinking of buying the Asus Sabertook Z77 (250) plus Ivy Bridge a K series CPU (about 320). Total will be about 570. This combo is about $490 which is $80 cheaper. However, I have a hard time saving $80 and get an older mobo and chip. The only advantage I see in this combo is the 8 ram slot if you need them.

This chip is like 5% slower than ivy bridge i7's and very slightly faster than the sandy bridge i7 in most benchmarks. LGA2011 is well worth it if you want to hang on to your system for several years and be able to upgrade later. LGA1155 is basically obsolete already.. pisses me off how Intel does that. The ivy bridge-E chips coming out in Q3 2013 will be compatible, and in a few years the $1000 hex-core version will be like $100 probably. It also supports PCI 3.0 so a few years you'll be able to get some $50 gfx cards that kick the ***** of anything we have today and run them in a sweet crossfire. PCI 3.0 also means you'll be able to upgrade with thunderbolt expansion cards if you need to. That's just my style.. I'm currently using a Pentium 4 windows XP machine that I've had since November 2003.. lol. Definitely glad to be upgrading!

that's what i'm thinking too... the release date is supposed to be really soon (or already released) so i'm thinking the price drop will be soon. either that or you could always go with the ivy bridge for better performance.
i'm thinking of delaying my pc building until then too

For desktops Ivy Bridge is not really an improvement over Sandy Bridge. Only real benefit is added PCIE 3.0 support and faster integrated graphics. For laptops the faster integrated graphics and lower power / heat is a much more attractive proposition. If you don't need the integrated graphics, get this deal while you can.
Just got my pricematch -- $237.85 for i7-3820. Hell yes.

Just wanted to let you know another good Mobo PM opportunity that I found.
Gigabyte X79-UD5
$299.99 at NCIX
http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=65...e&promoid=1360
$349.99 at ME (ME also has a $20 rebate)
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX36743
PM=299.99-(50X.25)-20=267.5 which is almost the same as the Asus p9x79 after pm price. But the UD5 is a better board than the Asus p9x79 (more Sata input for one).

Yeah that one is better, and it has front-panel USB 3.0 and built in wi-fi with corded antennas included.
