internet+router upgrade
hello all
looking to upgrade to rogers ultimate internet for higher upload speed and bigger bandwidth cap the teksavvy dsl would be best but after putting info in it seems like anything above 800KB is not available
what is the best the method to go about with the modem router option that rogers ultimate gives is a secondary router required?
we will have 2-3 wired connections and 1-2 wireless
is it true that rogers is upgrading upload speed in certain areas?
thanks for any help you can provide

rogers is planning to increase upstream bandwidth to match bell's fibe package (10mbps), but changes won't be rolling out to other area outside of major city core that soon yet.
I'm not sure if rogers will give you a modem with router capability or not, but even if they do, under heavy usages I would suggest turning off the router component so your modem does not crash that often.
As long as you have a DOCSIS 3 modem, you just need a router with enough ram so it doesn't run out of memory that fast (this causes dropping of wireless connections), and will be able to handle huge bandwidth (if can't handle the bandwidth you are putting it through, you will experience constant router crashes)
if you want to connect a lot of connections, I would suggest never use stock firmware on a router anyway.
I have a Netgear N600 v2, many people complained about it but with linux firmware, it has been able to handle my bandwidth usage and no problem with anything at this point.
do not buy "gaming router" tho, they are mostly a gimmck, simply a router with QoS...
