There's a thread below comparing the two (and Samsung Galaxy).
I had to iPad, love everything about it except the Size & Multitask. I love the PlayBook's portability and the Swipe from the Bezel/Multitask.
Being a Mac user, I miss iTunes and Angry Birds (Rio).
That looks hideous! What happened they wanted to stand out, avoid the clean look other Tablets offers._______________

Thrive offers full size ports, HDMI, SD card (could add 128GB storage), USB etc. Its a solid device but a bit ugly and big.
Between Playbook and Ipad, iPad hands down._______________

I have my ipad 2 for about two months and is great design. Can't say anything about the playbook, but if it is true that it has no build in email client and 3G, it won't work for me... ipad is sort of a PC replacement when i want instant access.
I plan to get 3G plan next week.

I've mentioned it elsewhere on a different thread here, but the PB is the best tablet for me. I love how small and compact it is. Just perfect to bring to Woodbine Racetrack, especially when it gets really busy and you don't want to leave your seat. You can use your PB and book all your bets using their wi-fi and never have to line up at the self-serve terminals. Best tablet for a horse racing enthusiast like myself to bring to the track. Also, Woodbine website uses Adobe flash for its video so the PB is perfect.

I have an ipad for home and and a Playbook for work. Apps is what makes me like the ipad more right now. When Playbook gets OS 2.0 and can run android, i think I may like the playbook more because it's more portable than the ipad. ANd it feels sturdier too, which is important because i tend to chuck those things in my bag like a careless ape.

The iPad should be renamed to iPaid because you have to pay for many apps to get the functionality you get off the bat with the PB. Want to few flash? Need to buy an app, want to watch a non-Apple format movie, need to buy an app and so on and so forth.

Ipad is being used as a home base device. The PB is truly portable. Once it gets it's OS upgrade it may become one of the best $500 tabs that cost $200 out there. I'm still playing with it and awaiting the upgrade (as are most PB owners). I also have a Kobo for daily reading on the bus. E-ink is great for daylight reading while the PB and Ipad are great indoors because of their backlit screens and colour for comics and magazines as well as multimedia playback. Currently, all 3 devices fit different needs in my household.
