[Dollarama] iPhone 5 charger cable $3 @ Dollarama

Picked up 2 lightning cables at Dollarama @ Burnamthorpe and Erin Mills (South Commmon Mall location). Have tried both and work fine!
Maybe YMMV as I've checked a couple other stores in The East end and haven't come across any.

I bought 10 from aliexpress for 1.30 a piece.. most of them.. the connector just rips apart after 3 weeks of use.. and i tried to be very gentle with it after the first cable broke..

have to confirm the quality of the dollarama one first

the non certified cable. Works fine in IOS 6
when ios 7 comes, every time you plug in the non certified cable, it will pop up a message and say, cable is not certified and may not work

I'm not sure why you are saying 'if that comes to be true' as it already is true.

It does work. Check your facts.

Pics please.. and in iOS 7, it just gives you the warning, doesn't stop cable from working, so doesn't really matter!

Apple has those messages for some time now. Especially my iPad 3rd gen shows them frequently as I mostly use 3rd party world chargers. It charges the iPad fine anyway. I guess the message is nothing but fair given that with a shortened plug you can fry your phone etc.
Thanks for the tip anyway, will have a stroll over to Dollarama today and check it out.

My Apple OEM cables can take a beating and can be pulled by the cord over and over.

Do it once with any of my 3rd party, and they can snap apart any time. I wonder if applying epoxy glue to the connection would help. Better to pull by the connector every time anyway.

Certainly not like 3rd party 30pins in the past. They were just as rugged as OEM.

Thanks OP, good to buy in a pinch.

+1

Warnings just like the 30pins, still work.

The day they don't work, they will lose customers old and new. It's probably considered in their risk assessment for market share.

I wonder if your phone dies and it records that you use a non certified cable = void warranty. Then against it is Apple, they will most likely honor it at the Apple store.

I read it in speed but does it mention that she was using fake cables? Otherwise it means original apple cables can blow you up as well.. So nothing specially about cheap cables unless they proved that it was the fake cable that she was using..

Save your $3. From past purchases (older cable model) - all rips apart within a week's use. Pure garbage!

Any recommendations on where to order some good quality cables from? I need something that will maintain most of the charging speed for both a 4S and a 5
