iPhone 5 Screen Replacement Question.

A friend of mine shattered his iPhone 5 screen the other day, he took off the whole LCD+Digitzer assembly since glass kept coming off.
So my question is, would apple replace the iPhone 5 without the screen being on it. (it still works, itunes detects it properly.)
I know he would have to pay the replacement cost but would they even replace it when he shows it to them without a screen on it?
Also how much would it cost?

I think it is about $230 for replacement and I know sometimes they'll do the swap without charge (though this not as common anymore). Can your friend put the display back on before he brings it in? I don't think they would really care with the screen already being shattered, but if it is a concern, reattach it. Even if he doesn't he could explain that he removed it before the glass was coming off.

alright, and no I recommended that but he already threw it out. I guess I'll just tell him to bring it in and give it a shot.

Oh, didn't realize he'd thrown out parts. That might change things, but worth a shot anyway.

Shouldn't need anything but the phone.

Users on apple forum said Apple won't do anything since it has been disassembled and is missing a part (screen).

I cracked the screen of my iPhone 4 and a local guy replaced the screen and digitizer for $80. Super job and works/look perfect.

Maybe there would be someone in your area. This guy was found on my local Kijiji. This was in Moncton

PS I now have it in a Survivor Armored case by Griffin. :-)

Ya but the screen for the iPhone 5 is around $200-$250 (depending where you buy it)

iphone 5 screen is WAY more expensive than iphone 4/4S

Make sure to get a otterbox defender once you get your iPhone 5 fixed . Nowadays, phone are just so damn expensive
