IPhone with Rogers, should I wait to unlock free

Currently has a line with Rogers, contract to expire early December, thinking to pay the remaining balance off and move on to Koodo, but was reading the news that coming on Dec 1 all carrier required to unlock the cell free. So not sure what to do now, should I better off to wait until December or I can go back demand a free unlock even I am not with them anymore?

OP will have to pay the balance of the phone. I called earlier and they confirmed the outstanding balance has to be $0 (my contract is only 6 months of the 24 months).

Heck, you can always ask.

Worst case scenario, between now and December 1st, will you save more than $50 by switching to Koodo? If so, then pay Rogers for the unlock if they won't waive it. If not, then ride it out :-)
