If your sure its unlocked then it'll switch to the new carrier service. Once you plug it into itunes it'll probably ask to download some new carrier package for fido/rogers.

iphone unlocked , now what?
I have unlocked my iphone and plan to switch carriers, does anyone know what happens when I connect my iphone with new SIM and itunes?
Does itunes recognize the SIM? I have yet to try that and the nights getting late.

If nothing pops up asking for you to then you don't need to. If it ask to download the newest version which is 3.1.2 you can if you want but I'm not so sure if that would break your factory unlock or not. Though there's a new unlock coming out tmr which suppose to let people with the new firmware unlock again.

If its a true factory unlock, then you have nothing to worry about. Double check just to make sure though

Actually blacksnOw as my phone was already jailbroken. Many people seem to be having assorted issues so I think I got lucky and everything seems to be fine.
